Proper introductions!

I have been talking about my newly formed band for a while now. But fact is that up until this last Friday, the band; who would play, was not set in stone. We held the first two rehearsals in honor of our drummer: Chrille. He had not played with me or did not know me prior, so he wanted a couple rehearsals to get the feel of it and see if it, playing with us, was something he’d like to do. It was!

So, now I give you, the band:

First up there is Kristofer Göransson. He plays the guitar. When he does not play with me he plays in Navid Modiri & Gudarna, Hanna Lovisa, his own stuff, Kris Gordon and many, many more… He is also a talented recording and mixing technician. Most recently recording, mixing and also playing on the next Gentle Act Incident record.

Then we have Martin Hall. He plays the keys. When not with me, then, live or as a permanent musician and/or songwriter, with Hell is Other People, Hanna Lovisa, Fibes, oh Fibes, Form One and a lot of other stuff, jazz stuff. (He also does a lot of things on his own but has no website for this stuff yet…) Martin, as well, is a talented recording, mixing, producer guy. His most recent worked with the Thrash Metal Band Zombiekrig.

Thirdly there is Brandt. He is a guitarist turned bass-player for this project. He is most known for having played guitar with Lok and Kneget but he also does his own stuff and he plays with Martin in Hell is Other People, among other things.

We now come to drummer man Chrille. He plays with Kristofer in Navid Modiri och Gudarna also with Hanna Lovisa, he does his own stuff, and plays in a lot (at least from what I have gathered) of different Jazz-type groups.

Apart from these four gentlemen you have the usual suspects of Rob and I to conclude the team doing this record.

I used to feel that I did not have anything to do with the music scene in Göteborg, in Sweden or anywhere for that matter and even though I still do not feel directly connected, the links provided above make me feel some what entangled…

There you have it: The band!

Second rehearsal, and beyond, picture post.

Yesterday saw the second rehearsal of my newly put together band, trying to get an album done. It, the rehearsal, went well and in two days we have had the chance to take a brief look at no less then seven songs.

Yesterday went a little bit like this:

Martin picked me up, a bit late, in his skubb-Volvo, and we were off:

1_on_our_way

We arrived at KGs place and Martin, dare devil that he is, decided to park his car next to the containers of trash, not knowing which of the following scenarios to fear most: 1. The parking guards comes and gives him a ticket or 2. The trash-men come and confuse his car for trash:

So, a bit late. Chrille the drummer and Brandt the bass player were chilling. Talking to KG:

Not many in-action pictures for you but KGs place is an inspirational one, at least when the sun is out. Check out the view from our rehearsal space:

And that was it for the day. Chrille and Brandt went home. Martin and KG went to Florens for some Spaten and I hooked up with Camilla at Liseberg where we watched A Camp [Spotify link] in concert (must say that Niklas Frisk is a really underrated guitarist, he pulls of some real stunts with the strings during the show) and then won 3.3kg of Daim-candy.

Band-Hunting: Done hunting?

Well… maybe. I just got mail-confirmation from a drummer. He said yes, at least yes to trying out, to playing a little bit. I hope it works out. I don’t know him from before, like I do the others, but i think it’s going to be all right. I got it from a reliable source that this guy might be the one. So, who is it? Well it’s Chrille! He plays percussion/drums with Navid Modiri & Gudarna [Spotify link here] and with Hanna Lovisa. He also used to play with Cat 5 [Spotify link here].

Let me then introduce the team:

KG, Lars-Martin, Brandt, Rob, Chrille and I, Tomas.

It is going to be a fun summer and a good record!

Band-Hunting: one more member hunted down.

Yes folks. As I told you yesterday; I am putting together a band. I also told you about Thomas Brandt, the former LOK (Spotify link here) and Kneget guitarist as well as video director for, among others, my old band Punk of Country (Internet is the shit! Here, under the link prior, you all have the photos from that video shoot! The video itself must have gotten lost in the youtube.com abyss…), saying yes. Late last night I got a second confirmation: KG! Yepp, the Navid Modiri & Gudarna- Kris Gordon- (Spotify link hereGentle Act Incident- and solo- guitarist/musician as well as studio owner, will join up! A good addition in my book.

Two down and a couple more to go.

Beautiful kill haircut music.

January 2:nd and another beautiful day here in Göteborg.
Today I am going to kill Mats Jonsson which isn’t as drastic as it sounds. You see, and as you know if you frequent this blog, Mats Jonsson is my hair. So today I am gong to get a haircut. I got as a Christmas gift (not the haircut but a gift certificate for one: for a haircut).

I have no idea as to what I am going to do with my hair; how I am going to have it cut, since I haven’t had it cut in over six months I have a few options. Yesterday I had an idea of what I wanted to do but then I told Camilla and I no longer have that idea since it was a bad idea. All I now know is that I want it short in the back.

In music news the ball has begun to roll (it needed a little push). My friend KG (and you can find his studio here) came by a few days back. He had bought two new mics he wanted to test. We did a little recording of a version of a song that is meant to end up on my next album. I got the Mp3 of it yesterday and it has gotten me, as we say here in Sweden, a blooded tooth. That meaning that I am excited about this next album. I sent the Mp3 to Rob because he has yet to hear the songs I have written.

That’s it for now but it’s still early hours.
1032h T signing off!

Tick-tock goes the clock.

Today has been an extremely slow day. I’ve been studying, both reading for upcoming lectures and writing on my exam, all of this in the joyous subject of metaethics. Apart from this I had the pleasure of entertaining KG for a cup of coffee, some guitar playing and a bit of a talk. That’s about it really. Nothing new on no other front.

More than a thousand words.

They, whoever they now might be, say that a picture says more than a thousand words (more then meaning one thousand and one and more, perhaps up to infinity, if anything can be up to infinity… In that case one might be able to say, about a specific picture: This picture says more than an infinite amount of words and that, apart from being a serious amount of words, just sounds dumb). But if we do it this way: we don’t take them, again, whoever they are, literary is it true? Well surely for some pictures, maybe even most pictures it is. One has no trouble cooking up stories around a still frame, such as we in Sweden have beginning with the, translated from Swedish to English, phrase: The man in the picture…
What about this picture, does it say more than a thousand words?

I think not but being the photographer of this particular picture I could tell you a thing or two about it (I could probably even, as I seem to have a talent for it, thin the story out, far exceeding a thousand words. I won’t though, lucky you, since this post is way to long all ready.)

So, what is this picture of?
Well it’s the first batch, a batch of 28 units, of The Anger promos going out to the world! At 1800h today the postman was there, at the postbox, to pick them up. I’m guessing that there now, at 1914h, at some post sorting station.

Now I’m off to walk the dog and pop by KG for a quick evening visit.

Candy troll, candy troll, candy troll.

Studying and It’s coming along nicely, my exam in the philosophy of politics that is. I’ve finished 2 out of 3 questions… well 2 and 1 quarter to be exact. I am well on track for Mondays hand in. So what next, what after the hand in? The answer is of course Aristotle and Nicomachean Ethics and Kant Metaphysics of Morals. The course is The history of practical philosophy. I think this is going to be my least favourite course this semester. Educating but tedious. I think. I might be wrong. I’ve been wrong before. Not many times. Maybe just one. I was wrong about the philosophy of religion. I thought that I would dislike that one. I didn’t. I found it really god… I mean good. So until Tuesday I have to read the first 7 chapters and comments to them in Nicomachean Ethics.

In music things are also trotting along at a nice pace. Yesterday I struck a deal with the local candy shop, the Candy Troll, over the purchase of 50 padded envelopes. Mr Candy Troll gave me a good price an I will collect them later today. This means that the sending out of promos still hasn’t happened and no; I haven’t got the last song from Rob, there was something about a boat and Santa Clause.

Work it chubby!

This post could just as easily have been called: New life part 4 back on! But that wouldn’t quite be the truth, I have no idea what the truth is, I know it’s more than a 4 part story…

What is more than a 4 part story I hear you ask. Well… me, sort of. It’s time for me to start eating more healthy and start exercising again. I need to lose some weight. How much? I don’t know but I have a goal of not weighing in at more than 100kg on October 11:th, my 30:th birthday. I haven’t been under 100kg since the summer between 9:th grade of high school and 1:st grade of upper secondary school and that’s something like 14 years away… Time flies when… your eating candy and fast food… Chips och Dipps as Thore Brorsson would say.

That explained the headline.

Spain won yesterday and I am truly happy for Fabregas. I wish Germany would have won, I feel that now, but considering how sad Fabregas would have been than, in comparison to how happy he is now my fluctuation in emotion regarding the same event seem like nothing and I do think the Spaniards (the whole nation) is more happy about the victory than the Germans (who have won so much) are sad for there loss. More happiness in the world! (That cant be a bad thing, can it?)

That took care of yesterday going in to today.

Haven’t been doing a lot of stuff today. Walked the dog, went into town with my friend Andreas G to pick up a birthday present for his girlfriend Anna the Panna. Had lunch and coffee with Andreas G and KG then when I came home Camilla and I took a short but nice walk with the Bo. Hisingen might upon statement be frowned up on but it’s really a nice place.

Nothing thought provoking today… sorry.
Oh, and I’m going to stop the introduction of people I mention in the blog. The introduction of people which I started to do just a few posts back. If you know the people I talk about you know them, If you don’t what I say about them is the only thing of relevance and the only thing you need to know.

Lazy going on restless.

Sommarlov (summer leave) is upon me. No school, almost no work and lots of free time. Free time to do all those things that I didn’t think I had the time to do before, whatever that was. I have so much free time that everything seems like a burden. I know I shouldn’t complain. It’s luxury. I’m not complaining, I’m just stating a strange fact that just might apply to me but I think not, it might not be universal but it certainly applies to many of us here in the rich, spoilt, part of the world. I have so little to do that everything I have to do comes with a sigh and the thought of everything I want to do, and some things that I perhaps ought to do, gets me really stressed out. I have to address this. I don’t know how, not yet.

I’m going to clean up now. Do the dishes and so on. KG* has been here for coffee and cake. My lazy ass is going to find itself in a clean home. Then I’ll take it from there. I must do something.

*KG – Kristofer Göransson
He is my friend and brother with AG whom I’ll introduce to you later!
(There’s no point in me talking about people if I don’t introduce them to you, hence the previous to lines.)
