Pictures from yesterday and theme-changes.

Ok. As you can see, I’m fiddling around with the WP-themes. As my CSS-skills are, shall we say, limited, It’s going to be a couple of days of odd-looking. I will, however, reach a point of satisfaction, or compromise… or just giving up. One of the three.

Got a mail from KG late las night. It included a picture of a camera, my camera. He asked if the camera was mine and if he should bring it to me. I said yes, and that he should.

This means I have the pictures deprived from/of you yesterday.

Here we go.

First up:
Michael Stooss, in a picture from the day before yesterday. Kind of a meta-picture. You’ll see the end result of this photo shoot soon.

More:
Lars-Martin (here pictured) thought this would be a nice pic. Our ‘to-do’ list for the song we were working on.

Further:
Ok, it’s not the Copacabana, or the Himalayas but I’ve been in plenty studios with worst views than this one.

More:
KG left me a little easter-egg type picture in my camera. A nice ‘street-art’ kind of thing. A sign warning for slippery surface ['Halkrisk' in Swedish] turned a sign for Crises ['Kris' in Swedish] with a nice Edvard Munch wink.

Even more:
This is how happy I was when KG returned my camera.

Last:
This is how happy KG was at returning my camera.

And, that’s your lot for now.

Guitars.

So today Rob, KG and myself found ourselves @ Studio Väst AKA Studio Zen again, for some more guitar recordings. We thought we might get done, all done with the guitar tracks for the album, but we did not. We have one song left. This, the time-taking, is mostly due to the fact that tis album will have more guitars on it then was intended, simply because they sound so good.

So, I guess we have one day of guitar recordings left after this. Then… well, then… yeah…

Here’s a fantastic picture of me and KG waiting for Rob this morning.

Here’s a picture of KG and Rob in action. To bad you can’t see me. I’m all up in the big brown leather couch being all Rick Rubin:ish and shit.

Last (?) guitar rehearsal session.

Just came back from a guitar rehearsal session with KG.
Went great.
We covered all the songs KG has left to lay guitar on. Hopefully we’ll get them all recorded on the 3:rd. Then we’ll see what happens.

Strange how the songs shift shapes with every added instrument. Even if the track is just a dub the style and feel of the song can completely change. I hope this is a good thing. Have no idea where this album is heading. It’s going to be so much fun to hear the end product.

I’ve crawled to the cross…

So, I’ve ‘crawled to the cross’ (as the Swedish Pro Verb goes) and gotten myself a youtube-account. I’ve done this for two reasons:
1. I want to share video with you.
2. I have not got the money to host it myself or let WordPress host it.

Why today? Well, because of the following:

This morning Rob and I took the dreaded tram over to KGs Studio Väst [under the prior link you can find some more photos, from the last recording session, the one before this one... and so on... etc.] for some guitar recording. While doing so, or more from my stand point; watching KG do so, I shot a crappy video of him with my crappy camera. (Need to get me a better one.) Thought it would be a cool thing for you all, my avid fans to watch.

So here it is. It’s KG laying down a solo for a song that will end up on the new album. (Due out in September/october… I hope.)

For those of you being more old-school I’ll also throw in some pictures:

All went great and it sounds really good. Five and a half tracks of guitar recording left to do… then we move onwards, and upwards… and maybe a little side ways.

Short and sweet.

Had a rehearsal session with KG today over at Studio Väst. Went great! Tomorrow Rob comes down from up north; from Heather Wedge, and we record. Three songs is/are on the agenda. It’s going to be magical.

Also, still on the musical tip, I talked to a guy about a thing today. I ‘ll tell you all about the guy and the thing… well mostly the thing very soon. It’s going to be glorious!

Recording guitar.

So, yesterday Rob, KG and I headed out to KG and Lars-Martins place Studio Väst (A.K.A. Studio Zen). It was supposed to be a super-productive day but the volcanic ash had its say on, and in, this matter as well. As I did not get home until Wednesday and Tuesday was the day on which KG and I had pencilled in some rehearsals, we ended up with a kind of rehears-record-come up with ideas-session. Great end result, not much of it though. KG laid some tracks on two songs, I on a third. Sounded awesome though. New dates next week.

Pre-post(s).

So, I’m home, we’re home. After a 12h journey by Underground, Express Train, Airplane, Train, Bus and Car. We came home the day before yesterday. My body still aches. I’ll give you all the lowdown on all our adventures. Also, I’m soon going to talk about the guitar recording session we, Rob, KG and I, had over at Studio Väst yesterday. (Yes, that’s right: yesterday. No rest here.)

‘Rob and Tomas’-time.

On the 1:st and the 6:th of April Rob and I will be in the studio recording some guitars for my upcoming album. Yes, you heard me… or read me. We’ll be recording! Recording sessions comes few and far between but we’re getting there. The album will get done… this year… I hope. To be honest it hasn’t taken that much time; ‘Rob and Tomas’-time that is. We started recording in October 2009, and I’m pretty sure, although I don’t want to jinx it, that we’ll finish before October this year. And that’s quick! The 1:st record, The Anger, took two and a half years from first recording session to release. I’m also going to try to set up some rehearsal sessions with KG before his recording sessions (he plays classical lead guitar, Eddie van Halen shit). After that there’s only the odd percussion, synth and effect left…

Oh, and all the vocals…

Better start singing into that mic.

Tired as fruit and looking onwards.

Tired as a banana right now. Worked a 11h shift yesterday, then off to Liseberg, then to bed way too late then another 11h shift today. I’m beat like an old drum. That doesn’t really matter though, because there’s not much going on with the thing that needs to be on going. Nothing for me to write about really.

Tomorrow, however, I am going to do two major things:

  1. Start working on my bachelors thesis again.
I have some fine tuning; tidying up, fixy things to do with it before I hand it in on August the 10:th.
  2. Rehears a little.
On Tuesday afternoon and evening I am going to KG to record and I need to know the songs I am recording (even if the recordings are for internal, as in the band, use).

Band-Hunting: Done hunting?

Well… maybe. I just got mail-confirmation from a drummer. He said yes, at least yes to trying out, to playing a little bit. I hope it works out. I don’t know him from before, like I do the others, but i think it’s going to be all right. I got it from a reliable source that this guy might be the one. So, who is it? Well it’s Chrille! He plays percussion/drums with Navid Modiri & Gudarna [Spotify link here] and with Hanna Lovisa. He also used to play with Cat 5 [Spotify link here].

Let me then introduce the team:

KG, Lars-Martin, Brandt, Rob, Chrille and I, Tomas.

It is going to be a fun summer and a good record!

Band-Hunting: one more member hunted down.

Yes folks. As I told you yesterday; I am putting together a band. I also told you about Thomas Brandt, the former LOK (Spotify link here) and Kneget guitarist as well as video director for, among others, my old band Punk of Country (Internet is the shit! Here, under the link prior, you all have the photos from that video shoot! The video itself must have gotten lost in the youtube.com abyss…), saying yes. Late last night I got a second confirmation: KG! Yepp, the Navid Modiri & Gudarna- Kris Gordon- (Spotify link hereGentle Act Incident- and solo- guitarist/musician as well as studio owner, will join up! A good addition in my book.

Two down and a couple more to go.
