First live-show in… forever.

This week sees me walk on to the stage and perform [facebook-event] for a group of people for the first time since 2005. Granted, it is not a show of my own. I am going to be a part of the new 047 album, Elva, release gig, as I am singing on one of the tracks.
Do not feel nervous just yet, but think I might. Not only because it has been a long time since I performed, but also because I will not have a guitar (or drums for that matter) covering me, so to speak. Just me and a mic.

If you are in Gothenburg, Sweden on the 10:th of June, do pop by.

Lyric Writing.

For the past couple of months I’ve been trying to write lyrics. I’ve never had writers block like this. Or, I don’t know if I have writers block now. Everything I write, every sentence, even word, either feels overused; done, or just icky. I’m jumping from song to song, trying to get things done. I have a chorus here, a verse, or half a verse there. Can’t complete a thing.
Super frustrating. There’s an album to get done!

Recording with 047.

Yes, following our song ‘Let You Go‘ [spotify link] and remembering the ease with which it was created, the guys in 047 and I decided to record some more. So, today, I was over at their place and recorded the basics for two tracks. (As I talked about in this interview.) When these two songs will be finished and where they will pop up (if at all) remains to be seen.

Back to ‘Let You Go’; here’s some of the places where you can find it:

YouTube, Vimeo, Last.fm, Sound Cloud, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, WiMP.
Released via Killing Music.

Let You Go!

Today sees the release of 047 (feat. Tomas Halberstad)’s new single ‘Let You Go’!
The single is a collaboration between the guys in 047 and myself. We think it turned out super! And, we hope you do to.
The song is released via Killing Music and will, as of today, be available in all major digital music outlets.

Enjoy!

Or, if your vimeo-kind-of person. Here’s a link to the video on vimeo!

Pure Volume = Dead.

Today I deleted my Pure Volume page. For those of you who do not know what Pure Volume is, and honestly, I’m guessing that’s most of you, it’s a service much like My Space. (Another page I will be deleting soon.)
Why did I delete it? Well, it sucked. Did not give me, or my artistry anything. I mean, I have no aversion against social medias, or networks, but enough is enough. If I were to sign up for every social media; network thing I’d do nothing else.

It, the deleting, is also yet another step in cleaning up; streamlining my presence here on the Internet.
Call it a strategy if you will.

New Album…

…but no, not ‘the’ new album.

Next week, or the week after that, I’ll release a new album. It’s an instrumental album, an electronic album. Initially I’ll release it over at my Sound Cloud-profile then we’ll see. It will feature a cover made by the one and only Stooss.

This album won’t be for everyone. But then again, my music rarely is.

So, check back here, or on my Twitter-account, or on my Last.Fm-profile.

GSME™.

I am summing up my thoughts on the great social media experiment which I have conducted over the passed couple of months. Needless to say, it’s been a complete and utter failure. Not without good things coming from in though. I think I now know what to do, need to figure out how to do it.

I’ll get back to you on all.

I’m Sorry and Recording and…

First off: I’m sorry for the poor state this blog is in. Truly looks awful. I will look into it. Get it sorted. Soon. Not now though. It’s Christmas-time. Lots to do.

Yesterday I recorded some vocals for a song that I’ve co-written with the guys in 047. The song will most likely feature on an upcoming EP of theirs. I don’t know when or how, but when I do I’ll let you know.

As for my own album: we’re working on it! Rough-mixes are dropping into my mailbox by the day and soon I’ll have them all (10 of them). Then we’ll start fixing things, recording some more tracks, recording vocals a.s.o. Aiming for a September release. (Too optimistic?)

Lars-Martin and I have started talking about doing some music together under a joint name. We’re probably heading in to the studio in January to see if we can get started. The idea is, if we want to record big drums, we record big drums… kind of. Any progress or result on that, and I’ll let you know.

That’s about it.

Merry Christmas everybody!

2:nd Rough-Rough!

Today I got the second (of ten) rough-rough-mixes (yeah, that’s what we’re calling them) of a song from the upcoming album. As I said on Twitter, it’s Tom Petty all over the place. You’re going to be surprised when you here the end result.

When I got the first mix I was in doubt and a bit in disbelief; was this what we had done? What have we done!? A.s.o. Now, when the second mix dropped in, all feels really well. It’s going to sound great! Super stoked.

You’ll hear it soon enough.

The Ball is Rolling… Again.

Late last night I got the first rough-rough-mix (yeah, that’s what we’re calling them), from Rob, of a song to feature on the new; next; upcoming album. Did not really have the possibility to listen to it since my ears, and most other parts of my body, were frozen to a ‘I-CAN’T-FEEL-MY-BODY-HEEEELP-ME’-state. (Camilla and I had been freezing our ass’ off watching the international football friendly between Sweden and Germany.)

I haven’t managed and analyzing listen today either. Schoolwork (and writing blog posts… and going for dog walks) keep me busy. But, somewhere between now and Sunday I’ll get around to having a nice, long sit-down, listening, thinking and taking notes.

However, what I can say from my first listen (where I basically just listened to the song) is: You’re in for a surprise. I’ve gone all farmer on you.

As an islander eventually does I guess.

So whats going on…

…with your music? My brother asks.
Not much. Nothing. Was my answer.

That could also be the reason as to why I’m not posting anything here. I mean, when there was a hiatus in music production, before, I bothered you with all kinds of stuff going on in my life. That, I do on Twitter now.

I have some kind of plan for the future web-me. I’m going to make some changes. Stay tuned.

10/10/10 10:10:10 Collaboration.

Sunday, the crappiest of days, is upon us; soon past us (thank you).

Two cool things about today though.
1. Today the date was 10/1o/10 and at one point (well several taking into account that the world has 24 time-zones) the time was 10:10:10.
2. I got the first mix/production/sketch of the song; the collaboration between 047 and myself. (Not the one mentioned below.) Sounds nice. Clearly not a song written by only me, nor by only them. The sound of collaboration is upon us.

Collabo.

Got an interesting e-mail today. It was from a guy named Tom. Tom plays in a band. Tom asked me if I wanted to sing on a track of theirs. I listened to it, then checked them out, on MySpace and what not. Then, I decided to give it a go. Seems like a fun thing to do. When the collaboration materializes, if it ever does, I’ll give you more details.

Fun though!

This Week + Future Music.

The week is trotting along at a fairly comfortable tempo. Not much happening and not much getting done. I set out with grand ambitions but the fruits of those ambitions are three thoughts and a read paper. Tomorrow I’ll read another paper, maybe two. And, on Friday I’ll go for some study guidance (if that’s what it’s called; I’ll go to see a guy about my future studies, the next two years. I’ll tell hi what I’d like to do; where I’d like to end up, he’ll tell me how to do it; to get there… I hope).

Music-wise I’ve been talking the talk.
Talking with Lars-Martin about recording two songs. I’ve written two, and have a vision. It’s going to be drums, synth-bass, spanish guitar, up-right piano and lots of space. (And, vocals.)
I’ve also been talking to 047 about swimming a bit further out into the waters in which we are right now just splashing with our bare feet. (A few weeks back I was in the 047 studio – sort of – and delivered the frame-work for a song. Their going to produce it and then I’ll come back and lay some vocals. If all goes we’ll the song’ll end up on an upcoming EP of theirs.) I have a couple of songs that I don’t know what to do with. I’m thinking their aesthetics could fit them. We’ll see.

Today.

Today I want some good news.
Yesterday was disastrous, with the Arsenal loss and all. The good news I want can preferably come through, or by, my music.

Today I’m going to go out for test run.
After 5 days of being sick, and still not feeling 100%, I feel I can’t wait any more. I’ve got, as we say here in Sweden, so much running in my legs.

Today I’ll finish reading up on Rawls.
I’ll hopefully find enough references to what The Veil of Ignorance is meant to do, to build a concept, a Rawlsian concept, of Mind and Knowledge.

Today I’m ending the post with a picture.
Sent to me, by phone, by a friend. It’s a young Tomas, oblivious to the life and worries of old Tomas; present Tomas. My guess is that this picture is from 1997, probably May, probably taken in Visby, Gotland. My friend, and I, along with the band we played in; Trickbag, a skate-punk-power-pop outfit, were there to play a show at Roxy. Fun times.

October 1:st, sick, thesis and airplay.

So, new month. Lots to do.

First off, I’ll try to get well; to get rid of this cold. Into its third day now. Really wish it would just go away. I need to get my run on, you know.

Secondly, the thesis-writing goes into super serious mode this month. My aim is to have a pretty finished thesis by October 31:st. I have until mid January to polish it, but I really do not want to have too much to do. This, since I’m taking two full-time courses (each full-time in their own right) in November/December. (One on Artificial Intelligence and one on Ludwig Wittgenstein’s Tractatus.)
Today I’m going to start reading up on my John Rawls, The Veil of Ignorance and what concept of Mind and Knowledge, that ‘knowledge restriction’ is. The I’m going to see if there actually is a concept of Mind and Knowledge at all, or if that is an open question (leading to a less epistemic coherent theory).

In music I got some great news yesterday. Starting next week, I’m going to get regular airplay (for a while at least) on Sweden’s largest college radio station. It’s a start, and one that I am very happy with, not really bathing in airplay. Let’s hope other college radio stations, and national radio, follows.

Hi. I’m Ludwig, and I can philosophize your ass off.
