Wake up! With Tomas Halberstad.

Good morning to you all!
Still Aristotle week (all though I’m going to a lecture on Immanuel Kant later).
Still autumn or fall or whatever you want to call it. I’m calling it season of crappy weather and rain and wind and stuff.

So what does today hold for ye all mighty? Wee, thanks for asking, and thanks for the ye all mighty-bit (I am all mighty, aren’t I?) Apart from the lecture I’m just now going to start to make some sense of, and tidy up old lecture notes (I bet you’re hella envious). Then when I come home from the lecture I’m going to study, yes you heard me, study. S to the T to the U to the D to the Y? Because I got to! (And it’s kind of fun, the learning about stuff at least). I’m guessing a couple of walks with The Boo is also in the cards. Then, at 2045h cet, the football starts.

Well, there you have my day. Pretty exiting, don’t you think? I bet you wished you were me. Come on, just admit it, come on, it’s ok…

Know someone who knows someone?

It’s been an incredibly slow day today. My mind has run races around itself but my body has been still, almost statuesque here in front of the computer. I also have a craving for chips and dip (my all time favourite food) but I’ll postpone that until tomorrow when Lars-Martin is going to pop by for a bit of  Uefa Champions League Fenerbahce vs. Arsenal.

I have to be done with Aristotle for today.

No fun music news either. In fact, no music news at all apart from the radio commercial and that was only semi-news.  Does anyone have an uncle or aunt who has a friend who once bought a dog at the very same kennel as some record company executive bought his or her dog (the relation could be closer than that, I’m not being picky, just trying to circle in as many people as possible)? Could you than tell your uncle or aunt to talk to her friend who in turn could talk to the owner of the kennel who could talk to the record company executive and say that he och her could call me? That would be super, thanks!

Radio in between.

This isn’t really yet a done deal but more or less. More in the sense that I can write about it.

A couple of days back I wrote about how I’ve landed, how my music will appear in, a pan Scandinavian television and Internet commercial for Nelly.com. Well now it seems that they also want the song for the parallel radio campaign. This is good before hand in two ways: 1, my song gets more exposure and 2, Rob and I get a little more money so now were not far from, if we are not all ready there, having financed the recordings of my second album. I know it’s a bit premature talking about a second album when the first one hasn’t come out yet but I’m no a machine with an on/off switch. I write songs all the time. It’s an ongoing process, natural. Unlike the work schematics of an album release.

Ok? Ok! Nice!

Sponge Bosse Pants Suite.

Nothing of importance has happened yet today but I’m writing anyway. Why? Because I need a brake form Aristotle. He’s been hammering in my head for a couple of hours now.

Started the day of by turning off the alarm clock and sleeping another hour. Bosse didn’t didn’t seem to mind not going out at 0730h in Göteborskt rain from all sides, up and down. He slept harder than me.

When we finally got up and went outside we found ourselves in a stereotypical autumn/fall day (if days can be stereotypical. Apart from the all ready mentioned rain there was, wind, gray clouds and leafs everywhere. And Bosse being a dog, and a dog with a lot of fur, and like dogs with a lot of fur being a sponge, like SpongeBob SquarePants, all though Bosse does not ware pants, if he did it would be very small pants, and they’d have four legs, more like a pants suit, Sponge Bosse Pants Suite, sucking up water, you can just imagine what a delight it was to get him dry after the walk.

Ok. Talk to you if something happens. Otherwise I’ll be in Aristotle-land all day!

…and Bono goes: Sunday, study Sunday!

Sunday and still studying. I will be until the day of the exam hand-in. Which is still a while away. I’ve managed to answer almost all of question 1. of 3 + 2 and the first question wasn’t at all a question… it was 5 (or is 5), the first 3 questions are in fact 10 questions…

I really want to get out in the nice, but windy, weather but that won’t happen. Not until tonight, when it’s dark, and I’ll bet you the clouds and rain have rolled in. Yep that’s right; I’m taking Bosses for his evening stroll tonight. So beware, he’s looking for lady dogs. He knows there out there. He can smell it… literally.

Another full blog post. I hope I did not bore you to death… are you there? Hello?

Arsenal 3 Everton 1.

So, there I sat with my Arsenal-socks, my Arsenal beer-towel and a pint of Newcastle brown ale in my Arsenal-glass (I also had on an Arsenal replica shirt from last season) thinking I had jinxed it. I took the picture just before the Arsenal-Everton game and if you look at the television, in the back ground, you will see highlights (more like low-lights) from the 1-1 game vs. Hull a couple of weeks back.

At half time I was sure it was my fault, Arsenal trailing Everton by a goal It ended well though. A comfy 3-1 victory! So I can now pull on my Arsenal beanie and walk the dog in peace.

The thing is I got a whole lot of Arsenal-stuff for my birthday and to crown them all I got a trip to London and tickets to see Arsenal vs. Tottenham on the 29:th of October! It’s going to be awesome!

Aristotle and Immanuel Kant.

It’s really too early for anything. It being a Saturday and all. The time is 0914h and I’m up all ready because it’s study time. Yes that’s right, ah-yeah it’s study time. You heard me!

Aristotle and his Nicomachean Etics (seems like you can read the whole thing behind this link) is going to get run over by me (but it might just be the other way around). I have three questions to answer in the first part of a two part home exam (I’m guessing, since I haven’t gotten them yet, that the other part, part two, and its questions, will be about Kant).

Ok, I might as well get going!

Tomas Hallberg?

First of: Hello and welcome to a beautiful morning here in Gigantic Rock. I’ve been up since about 0815h, walking the dog, having breakfast. The sun shines from a clear blur sky and when it does, as it does, everything just feels a little lighter.

View from my kitchen window:

Ok so yesterday was the day of my first play on Swedish national radio. The station was P3, the show was P3Lab and the song was “Travel as I wait”. Except for introducing me as Tomas Hallberg the host did a good job in talking a little about me. He did this after the song where he also got my name correct, twice! The song sounded nice too. You can find the show here (the show will be up for 30 days from today, you might want to be able to speak Swedish and you might have to click around a bit. My song is the second one in the show… about three minutes in).

Let’s wait and see what today holds!

This is the day!

Ok. Here comes the good news. (At least it’s potentially good news for me.)

I’ve just been to a meeting with G. G is producer Gustav Oldén. Gustav works for Bobby Works. Bobby works got a contract from Stendahls to make a television commercial for Nelly.com. Gustav got the job to produce and Jerker, my friend, got the job to direct. Here is where I come in: They needed a song for their commercial. They searched the major labels of Sweden hi and low but talent was no where to be found. Then they found me. Jerker remembered a song I had played back to him from “The Anger”. The song is “Travel as I wait”. They tried it and it fit like a glove. They showed the ad agency who loved it even the client said that this is an ok go!

So here I am. An unsigned artist with a song in a pan Scandinavian commercial campaign and getting payed to be in it. Me and Rob will have to do some maths but if were lucky we all ready have enough money to record a second album. Which I guess was our aim in trying to get this one, The Anger, out there.

Could this be the day?

Haven’t heard anything about postponement yet. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that today will be the day when I can bring you the good news (at least for me) that I’ve been talking, or perhaps; writing, about. That being said… or written (exactly what do you say/write here? I am writing it, not saying it, not now any way, Its not like I’m sitting here by my computer and talking out loud to myself, I guess the expression goes: say, but who am I to give a flying round kick about what anything says and history and stuff?) [Just found an interesting button in the WordPress editor... Add Poll... I wonder how that might work?] G canceled on me at 1210h yesterday and the meeting was supposed to take place at 1215h.

G fights fires, I wait.

I understand if this is getting a bit tedious for you all, my oh so faith full readers, but today’s fun news, which was originally yesterdays fun news, will now be tomorrows fun news… I hope.

Yes gang, it’s been postponed yet another day. Spoke to G on the phone and he said something about arriving late and putting out fires. Quite obviously, for all of you who hasn’t figured it out yet, G is a tardy fire fighter. That’s what he does… he fights fires… after getting there late… with water and everything… and a helmet… a yellow one.

This just in.

Just got a call from a man. We can call him G.
The unveiling of the good news has been postponed instill Wednesday. This because of the fact that G had to work in another city on Tuesday and me unveiling the good news has a lot to do with me meeting G for a bit of a chat.

A bit anti climatic but hey, that’s life.

Shopping in crappy weather.

I am finally starting to land from Saturdays event and I now have the right attire to do so in.

Despite the crappy weather that Göteborg is giving us today (the city is really portraying itself from it’s absolute worst side; the clouds start where the tarmac lets go, the rain is coming from every direction, even from the ground and up and the brightest of colour’s wouldn’t escape the compact gray) I took a trip into town and made use of a gift certificate I got as a present from my friends Fredrik, Eleonore and there son Viktor. It was a gift certificate from a sporting goods store so I went there and got myself a really nice sweat suit (ironically enough I bought a gray one… must be the weather). It’s oversize and really soft. I have got it on right now. It’s made for days like this. Just pop it on and put my feet in a pair of slippers and I’m good (I of course have a cup of coffee in my hand, which leads me to another gift that I got and will share with you when I make use of it).

I also went by the store where Camilla saw that perfect, must have, knitted sweater. I got it for her. She deserves a whole lot more but I think she will be pleased.

Nothing else today, yet. Tomorrow = good news… I hope.

Thirty and then some…

It’s a bit of a day after the night before and yes, even it being 1837h I’m still feeling yesterdays liquid spirits just a tad.

So yes, I had a birthday yesterday. Thirty years old. Might as well get used to it. It won’t go away, will it? Does anyone have a tip? Some kind of solvent or perhaps a pill? Something that won’t kill me, just make the thirty go away… forever. No? Ok.

I had a real nice party which my lovely girl Camilla orchestrated. I really can’t thank her enough for the effort she put in. I have an idea of how to thank her in piece though. It involves a certain sweater she’s been eyeing for a while.

Did you get any nice gifts? Did I get any nice gifts!? I got the nicest of gifts and every gift was perfect in itself. Only crap thing was that I got one kind of gift twice. That all got sorted.

I also got an e-mail yesterday from a magazine saying that they will do a sort of promo-spot-thing on me. Just a very small piece under some kind of up-and-coming headline. Fun stuff! (I’m not naming the magazine, don’t really know why, doesn’t seem like the right thing to do. When the issue comes out I’ll inform you about which publication I’m talking about.)

Don’t forget: I probably have some cool news on Tuesday.

P3Lab and I are like this…

Got a nice e-mail from the Swedish radio show P3Lab. They have decided to include my song, Travel as I wait, in next weeks program! It airs on Thursday at 2203. They are also going to say something about me. Something like: “Ok. So here’s the next big thing! The don Tomaso!” or something like that.

This is a big thing for a country boy like myself.
