Stoping ugly leads to more ugly.
I am not cracking down on plastic surgery, or corrective surgery or any body exterior altering surgery at all. I have no opinion on the matter, none that I have thought through at least. I am not cracking down on people who get these kind of surgeries. I have no thought on them either.
This is what I’m getting at, one of two things; either these types of surgeries are dangerous for the on going future life of mankind or surgeons have got them self a nifty little business.
Here’s what I mean:
Imagine a girl. She has a problem with here nose. It’s not faulty or anything it’s just a bit big. Now imagine a boy. His teeth are really crooked so from the age of thirteen to the age of nineteen he ware all kinds of teeth correcting ware there is. By the time he’s twenty he meets this girl with the cutest little button nose. They have a kid. A baby girl with a big nose and really crooked teeth, all of which she naturally gets fixed. About the same time that our first couple hook up another couple gets together. Both having gotten there teeth fixed as teenagers and the guy having had plastic surgery to get rid of that, or more build on that, week chin of his. Our second couple gets a kid. A week chinned crooked teethed little boy, fixing all before the age of twenty one. Guess which two kids grow up and then starts to date, gets married… has a kid? And this is the state of the world; each generation having more severe appearance disabilities (bad choice of words but come on! English is my second language my second language.) The surgeons fixing more and more.
I have no real conclusion to this (maybe that stopping ugly in one generation will mean having to stop more ugly in the next… or not). So I’m stoping now.
The most fitting of subjects.
Seems like I’ve been avoiding it for a while.
Here goes.
The real, and in fact only, reason for me having, and writing on, this blog is music, my music. The idea is to post songs as the become written and recorded. You might have noticed that I haven’t really gotten around to that yet, in part for reasons stated below. This does not, however, mean that there is nothing going on in the musical music world of Tomas Halberstad. There is; plenty.
For some time now I’ve been working on an album, or a batch of songs if you will, 10 to be exact. This material, these songs, are finally starting to, one by one, come out of the wood works, the vast wood works, and they sounds great. I really don’t know what I am going to do with these songs and that is why I’m not posting them here (yet). What I can tell you about them, apart from that they are 10, is that they are recorded at Lilla Rummet, Golden Age Studio and Clayone Sound (there might be additional recordings done elsewhere.) They are recorded by Rob O and myself and bird shitter-on Lars-Martin plays the piano on most of the tracks (I think he’s even doing some singing, I’m not sure, those songs aren’t mixed yet). The mixing is done by Rob O. Now, I know this might not exactly be mouth watering facts but there facts, facts about me and my music. I am pleased that they, and the music, even exist.
Justice and the inevitability of football.
Since football is a huge interest of mine it is inevitable for me to write about it.
First some practical stuff:
First: For those of you not interested in football, and for those of you who are, I’ve created a new category, suitably named football.
Second: When I speak, or write, of, or about, football I mean football in the European, or all-of-the-world-accept-U.S.A.-sense of it. You know; the kind of football played with a ball primarily using you feet.
Ok. On to the good stuff,
My friend Lars-Martin raced by me on his bike yesterday. I didn’t se, or hear him coming. Right when he passed me he shouted: Arsenal suck, Liverpool rule. It might be pointed out at this point that I am an Arsenal supporter and Lars-Martin likes spending big bucks and not getting his moneys worth (he’s a Liverpool supporter). He raced by so fast that I couldn’t reply. I didn’t have to. A seagull had heard Lars-Martin and his preposterous statement and probably thought that; that twat-supporting low-life is in need of a serious straight setting. So the bird shat on Lars-Martin, right on the pants. Now that’s justice.
Judge a book by its cover.
This is all I am saying today: Judge a book by its cover then don’t read it. Create your own story. I’m sure it will be better then the one printed on the pages or at least give you more pleasure. I don’t know how many times I’ve read an article or a review or gotten a sure tip, a raving rumor about something that is supposed to be so good I don’t want to miss it or I’ve painted a picture in my mind, a beautiful landscape only to, after not missing it, find something crap, a big smudge stain on my beautiful canvas landscape. This often happens to me when I read music press. There’s this new band, or artist, and it all sounds so wonderful… in my head. It’s sounds so great it’s inspiring. So inspiring in fact that I can write of it. Creating my own version of my own version of the new band, or artist. Are you following? So I return to the beginning; Judge a book by its cover then don’t read it. (This leads to another discussion on originality and the origin of creation which I won’t get to here. You might also think that I am arguing that it is better to be judgemental than have knowledge, which I am not. Think again.)
Set straight by a comment.
So I got my first comment today. I got it on the post previous to this one.
I have a friend called Lars-Martin. He has a note pinned on the wall over his computer monitors (yes he has two; mega bonk). The note says, or rather states; “Music first. Music last.” Just as a reminder of the more important things in life. Apparently I’ve been getting of track (something I thought I knew but didn’t). I have another friend, El Guapo. He commented my last post by using Lars-Martins reminder, setting me straight. Letting me know what I should focus on and while I won’t let go of my studies I’m going to make an effort towards my music. I assure you there will be things happening. As El Guapo put it “The People need the rock!” So I say – You want the people need the rock? I’ll give you you want the people need the rock!
On a more site-related matter:
I’ve had the time set on my account all wrong so every post previous to this one will have the publishing time of by approximately +12h. Not that this should matter to anyone. I just want everything to be in order, explained and where it should be…
Friday the 16:th, 3 days more evil.
Not much going on music-wise in the world of The Don (that’s me). However study-wise there’s more. I had an ethics exam a couple of weeks ago, I got it returned to me today. I passed which was more than I hoped for but less then I wanted (there is a level above passed; ultra passed or something). Strange thing that; beforehand saying to myself that I shouldn’t get to disappointed if I fail then when I pass get disappointed that I didn’t ultra pass. It leaves me feeling like this:

Another thing that’s really 2008.
This thing.
The blogging.
I might be the last one getting around to doing it (I know i’m not the last one; it’s a figure of speech) but I think I could really get in to it (but I guess that’s what everyone says when they are presented with a new toy). I know I have to figure out what I want to say, since I know what I want to do (this implies that you both have to say and do something, which you do not, I am just saying that both saying and doing is what I want to do), but for now I can say just that; that I am going to say and do.
Inspiration.
Here’s some news for 2008:
Let me tell you one thing; the Internet is inspiring. Not as an idea or a thing in whole but for it’s content. If you feel lost for words or lost for tunes you just flip it on and browse around. Granted there is a lot of shit out there but that is easily avoidable. If you speak Swedish, or at least read Swedish, and like music, you couldn’t have missed (but might have) this nice site; PSL.
Step 1; new computer.
I’ve taken the first step in getting my new home recording studio in check. I’ve bought a new computer; the heart of it all. Here’s a picture for you all. Me and my sister. I’m demoing the key features of my new computer.
It works…
Two posts in one day, please try to keep up.
Thats one thing I can take off my list, tomashalberstad.eu now works.
I know!
I know that my last three sites have been uploaded or created just to fall apart before anything fun happens. This wont be the case with this one. Here’s the deal: my studies are taking up most of my time, I have to get my web hotel issues sorted out; so my domain, my name, redirects you here (yes, I am am aware of the fact that if you are here you have the proper address) and last but not least, no certainly not least by any means, I have to record some songs to post and I am between home recording equipment so to speak.
Hold on, I know I am.
